I won $1,800.00 ! On June 6th during my annual trip to Las Vegas with Pikes Peak Poker I placed 15th out of more then 1,200 entrants playing Texas Holdem Poker. I posted some of this on Facebook as soon as it happened.  I wanted to put more detail on my blog. I passed!  I had so many plans for this Blog.  I know blogging is so old school.  There has been so much going on in the last few months, but the most exciting is that I started studying for the CISSP exam.  I passed the exam on July 7th and I am currently waiting for the endorsement process to complete.  This exam took several months of studying. I also paid for the Boson practice exams.  http://www.boson.com Back in the day when I obtained my MCSE, CCNA, and ASE I always used the Transcender tests.  That has become Kaplan IT now.  Boson provided a great way for me to judge my progress and identify what areas I needed to concentrate on. Pikes Peak Poker Pikes Peak Poker reached out to me because their old website needed a refresh.  So I made them this.  I tried wix.com for the first time because I had heard so many good things about them. I needed to see for myself.   I really like the fact that you can create a custom data base to be used throughout the website.   I like the shopping cart. I surprised to find out, after signing up to be a Premium member that many of the add on apps in the app store cost extra. This was disappointing because the shopping app by itself only accepts 2 forms of payment, Paypal and Square. I'm still trying to figure out a way to expand that.  I think I might link back to Facebook for the shopping part.  I am always making tweaks and improving the feature of the website so that it is never completely done. Fire 7 Tablet with Alexa These were so cheap on Amazon.com that I bought one for every kid plus my dad!  They have this thing called "special offers". Amazon knocks $15 off of the price so that it can run adds every time that the tablet is idle.  Like a screen saver that sells you stuff. So for $49.99 you get a fully functional tablet. My dad loves Amazon Music.  There is so much free content because I am a Amazon Prime member. The kids watch videos and play games.  You can even use it to read books!

Project Management: A Quick Start Beginners Guide For The Serious Project Manager To Managing Any Project Easily! When I got hired at Keysight, I thought that I would brush up on my Project Management terminology.  It has been years since I completed my degree so I want to have as much of this knowledge fresh in my mind as possible.   I checked on Kindle Unlimited and found this beginner's guide. Wow.  They really meant beginner. If you are new to Project Management or just want to learn check this book out.  It covers a lot very basic concepts.  It only took me a couple of days to read and it was free since I have Kindle Unlimited.

Raspberry Pi 3 Such an amazing little device.  Seen here with a case and power supply you can pick this up on Amazon for $50.00.  If all that you want is the board you can get it for $35.00. My first project was to install KODI on this for use as a media server.  You hook the HDMI cable to a TV and you can watch television shows and Movies. Next, I wiped that SD card and turned it into a retro game console. These are two of the easiest projects, because you can download an SD card image that basically is everything you need. There are kits that you can turn a Raspberry Pi into a Laptop with its own Linux based operating system called Raspian. I like the Pi 3 because it is basically a tiny computer.  The 3 has built-in WiFi, HDMI connector and Bluetooth out of the box.
